Yesterday my kindle died, of course my warranty ran out a few months ago so amazon won't replace it.

I don't want to be buying a new ebook reader every 12 months - so does anybody have any suggestions on something relatively cheap that isn't a piece of shit that breaks down on purpose?

I don't need any fancy bullshit, I don't need to be able to access the internet or watch videos - I just need to read regular ebooks.

P.S Fuck you amazon, pieces of shit.

Just get another Kindle FOR $69

Your only other viable option's probably the Nook

How about Kindle for PC? It's free.

My Kindle is going strong on year 2, but my parents' broke not too long ago. Perhaps there truly is a planned obsolescence.

Classic, I love it, you want something cheap that's built like a tank and that lasts forever. I know people that have been using the same original readers for years without problems, so perhaps you just beat the shit out of it?

For $69, they're practically disposable anyway.

Go back to paper books you flaming sexual.

69 bucks a year.
Don't lose the books you bought.

What's the problem?

My kindle is about 2 years old and still going strong.

I took pretty good care of mine, if you do any amount of searching you find masses of people having the exact same problem around this timeframe.

Is it wrong that I don't want to support a company that makes products that lasts? I don't want 50 electronic items that need to be replaced every 12 months, one or two are enough.

I also said relatively cheap, I paid like $200 for my last e-reader and I'm not against paying that amount again as long as the product is actually going to last.

You might like wasting money, but I can think of much better things to do with mine.
