Sup guys

I have a blog, lawlblog, and I'm really really trying to monetize the damn thing but it's not too easy!

I know the biggest downfall is most of the traffic is from stumble, digg, etc but surely there must be something I can do! I hardly even make a damn dollar a day!

I've tried big banners, small banners, rotating banners, all sorts and had maybe like two or three conversions...this month. and the traffic is quite good (i think so atleast).

can you guys have a look and perhaps recommend something? im using openx now to display the current banners, so i can even offer some banner space ;)

thanks!

Well firstly i would say get an affiliate to match your content... If I hit your site looking for funny pictures its unlikely im going to want to buy a laptop or fill in a survey... Have you tried emoticons or something similar

But not just any random contest, make it seem as though you're the one who is organizing it. If people come to your website because they want to be entertained, a contest such as "Choose this month's funniest pic and win!" will attract far more clicks than something totally unrelated such as "Vote for your favorite basketball player and win".

cool thanks guys! what size banners? 125x125?
also, glowleaf, where can i find cpm offers?

Obviously, your main goal should be not making a banner look like...a banner. You'll just have to test different formats out and see what works best for your website. And as for CPM networks, here are a few (taken from this WF thread, you might want to check it out):

Tribal Fusion
Casale Media
BurstMedia
RealTechNetwork
ValueClick Media/FastClick
Buds Ad Network
MaxOnline
24/7 Real Media
Bannerconnect
Mamma Media Solutions
Adtegrity
Ad pepper Media
Rightmedia.com
Advertising.com
Accelerator Media
AdSmart
AdAgency1
Interclick
Realcastmedia.com

Spam this guy with affiliate links. I am bored...

Adbrite has some cpm ads. To get the most of it, you need to have a really big website, cpm ad networks are picky. I assume you are not at that stage yet, so test it out with adbrite. Also, stumble your pics.

EDIT: yeah, the above list helps. You will get rejected by most of them though. You need more than 5k pageviews a day.

Try email submits or maybe mobile type offers since your demo is probably teen-young adult

Stumbleupon and digg traffic sucks, most of those users see so many random sites every day they're completely immune to ads and ignore them completely.

care to elaborate? :) what banner size should i be using as well?
A linkbar at the upper left edge is a good hot spot, and you can also experiment with 468x15 slim link banners between pictures. A 768x60 link banner can be placed on your bottom edge. Google allows 3 modules per page. Move them around and use different sizes and see which gives you the best CTR.

your adsense placement is wack.

for an actual content site it would take a while to start generating money, i would say a year at least. by then you should have advertisers hitting you up.

Try to place a big link below pics with Do You Like It ... Click Yes Or No and enter your email address to win a MacBook Air and send them to an email submit .

For increasing page views, put less pics on each page and make the previous entries - next entries links huge. Preferrably 1 image per page, when clicked goes to the next page. It's like crack for boredom, even if the pictures aren't funny (yours are, though).

Some of the Ads from Google that show on your site are NOT at all related to your niche. How would you possibly get any clicks on them. Time to explore other PPC engines ;)

@bluebuddha - all done, and thanks!

@MrCat - yea i know :( I've done section targeting on the adsense so hopefully that work's a little better, I'm also waiting for my earnings to get to $100 so I can get my check and be over with adsense and switch to bidvertiser
