If I create datasheets from my site content and want to build parasite docstor pages/links, do I need to worry if all sites have the same PDF? Ie will google penalise or simply ignore them or most of them because of this, or could I get all of them ranking in the top 50-100 in a non competitive niche?

As far as i know, 2014, google still cant detect duplicate images. Same goes with the PDF's. They mostly rely on the title and the tags. So if your planning on getting the same PDF out, why not try and make up like 50-100 cool non-software spun titles.

With regards on the ranking its entirely a different road to take

A lot of people are still hung up on this notion that syndicated content (where you take content from your site and publish elsewhere), and duplicate content (which has more to do with content related on the same site).

Whenever you syndicate your content, be sure that it's published and indexed on your own site. Then add it to a pdf or some other type of document for republication on DocStoc or whatever document site that you want.

Add a really rich, lengthy description (as well as unique tags and title) on the page where your document is being published.

You might even go so far as getting one or two very high powered backlinks to your document once it's published to ensure that Google finds it quickly.
