So I've been using MX for years and I've never upgraded nor have I ever looked into a newer version.

Well after seroius of fatal error crashes in MX, I'm using version 6.0, I've decided to look into version 8.0...but is it worth it? That is the question. I'm sure there will be some things I will like about it but I'm looking for some opinions from people that have went from earlier versions to 8.0.

I only use the code view and I never go into design view.

Anyway, yay or nay on upgrading?

If thats the case - just use that notepad or wordpad (whatever its called) - save yourself some cash :)

If you're only using it for coding then you don't need a thick WYSIWYG editor.
Get something slimmer like Notepad++ , you'll like the idea that it takes only a second to open it but it has all the functionality that you had in Dreamweaver.

Going to have to throw my hat in the 'get Notepad++' ring.

Unless you're on a Mac. Then get TextWrangler.

I've been using DW for years and haven't found much benefit in newer versions....at least for the stuff I'm doing.

I switched to MX 8 recently. It's main strength I find over ver. 6 is better CSS editing and wysiwyg in design view. If you're just using the text editor there's not much advantage in upgrading. For text editing I like Notetab Standard. It allows multiple windows open in tabs, compare two files, clipbooks of common tags and scripting your own features if you want it. There's a free lite version if you want to try it.

Award-Winning NoteTab Text Editors and HTML Editors

I've never used Notepad++ but it looks to have some similar features.
