Right now a little less than half of my email subscribers don't confirm their subscription.

I even show them a video right after they opt-in that shows what the email will look like and it tells them to go confirm their sub asap.

I'm using icontact btw if that makes any difference. I'm not sure if I'm hitting the spam box or if the numbers I'm seeing are normal.

Either:

1) Offer them something so enticing they wouldn't think twice about confirming (they don't get the "thing" until they confirm)

-or-

2) Stick with single opt-in

-or-

3) Both.

My vote is #3. Fuck double opt-in. The big corps rarely use it. Why should I?

When I sign up for something that is double opt-in, the confirmation email goes right to the spam box about half of the time. That makes me think that your numbers are not a coincidence. If you keep the double opt-in method, you could remind them to check their spam folder when you tell them to confirm.
