Was wondering what everyone thought about domain scalping. There may be another term for it but basically what it involves is finding domains that are in auction but still have live websites running. This just may be a TDNAM spoof but I find these types of domains regularly.
Out of every domain I have won that was like this I have been contacted by the previous owner. I had intentions of developing most of these domains. At first I would just sell them back at cost but after this became a regular experience I started getting kinda ticked. I did not want to be a catcher for these lazy folk that never check their domains. So I upped the price on the few I sold like this.
Interestingly though there seems to be quite a service that could be created. Basically search for auction house domains that still have legit websites and then resell the domain when the original owner comes looking for you. In a way you are providing a service since you are catching these names and not some company that will gouge them. On the other hand you are a scalper.
Curious what others think...
