okay so i have my money domain registered with protection and private whois and all that BUT what if someone hacks my domain or it gets lost somehow from their database....what is there to protect me from someone else registering it? would i just find a lawyer in this case or is there some kind of extra protection or insurance i can purchase?

Go with a better registar is the first step. Like moniker.

Lock the domain(s)

Then maybe also do their portfolio guard or something like that. But it is $250.

That is the best way to protect .coms.

Who the hell are you using as your registrar? If it's a no name then YES buy protection but if it's a big name, you really don't have to worry as long as you have your domain private and locked. It's not an easy task to "hijack" a domain unless you have a really easy password to guess...

Send me a private a message. I handle domain security consulting for a number of top tier investors and I might be able to give you some advice.
