Does instantly forwarding to a different domain name confuse visitors?

If you tell someone to go to www.random-site-name-bros.com, but then it instantly redirects/forwards to www.completely-different-site-name.com...

Do you think they look up in the url bar and get confused and/or lose trust because the domain name is not the same as the one they thought they were going to?

Or am I overestimating the intelligence of most of the people we're marketing to?

Any case studies ever been done on this? Or has anyone ever tested this?

Most people won't notice and the ones that do won't care as long as they can still find the content they were looking for.

I don't think it does - I guess more of the time a random visitor will not even notice -

Even if forwarding confuse visitor they will stay on website if website is very close related to the term thety were looking for.
