Do you think we will invade Iran?

Someone needs to learn how to start a poll.

I think we need to invade Canada and slaughter all those beady eyed, flapping jawed hockey fuckers. They're using so much of our air that I had to add a new intake system to my Hummer so I could keep my horsepower up and my MPG down.

Short answer: No.

We are fighting a two-front war with an all-volunteer armed forces and have strained both our human capital and economic resources to a breaking point, as-is.

Long answer: Not without a draft.

See above.

We can't bother with Iran or N.Korea til we're done with Iraq and Afghanistan. As it is right now we got so much troops deployed overseas, that if another country was gusty enough to land an army here, they could do some serious damage before the rest of the troops were recalled.

No we won't anytime soon, but we'll probably turn our head and let the Israelis bomb them, than publicly slap the Israelis on the wrist shortly after, and than publicly thank the Israelis years down the road just like we did after they bombed Osirak in the 80's.

They'd do it in a heartbeat too if they thought we had their backs to any international retaliation. The idea of the US having a country back can lead to messed up situations, like the Georgia-Russia incident not too long ago (The president of Georgia seemed to think the US would completely support its attack on the Russian front, though not sure why we'd even care as a public).

Israel isn't afraid of a retaliation because they will get bombed by their enemies regardless of what they do or don't do. That is a sad fact of life there. Israelis are damned if they do and damned if they don't. They just stopped a boat carrying 60 tons of missiles from Iran to Lebanon. They will do whatever it takes to make sure they don't get nuked, and quite frankly I don't blame them. I would much rather see an Iranian revolt to over throw the current regime, but they should get on with it already.

Invading Iran is not like invading Iraq or Afghanistan; they have more wealth and power than the other 2 combined, they have a small but well-trained military and if they don't have nukes, they have enough friends to where if the shit went down, they could get some.

Israel would have to stay neutral throughout the whole thing. If you remember during the 1st Gulf War, there was some tension for a week or so when Israel was going to join the war (because of long-range missiles coming from Iraq), but if they did, the U.S. would end up losing the bases in Jordan and Saudi Arabia, where a lot of the U.S. bombing missions originated.

If Iran gets invaded, all they have to do is bomb the shit out of Israel enough to make them fight back no matter what anyone said, and it starts WWIII.

Who do you think started all those Twitterbombs during their elections? CIA linkbait.

I don't think the USA would send in infantry. Here's how I think it would play out.

1. Iran will continue to pursue a Nuke.

2. Israel bombs nuke site(s)

3. Iran retaliates and targets USA and Israeli interests

4. The USA launches a full scale attack on ALL Iranian Nuke sites, and stops fuel imports into Iran. The USA and a handful of other countries would send a fleet of ships to try and keep the oil flowing through the straights during this time.

5. WW3

Why exactly would it be WW3, are there enough Iranian allies that possess long distance nuclear capabilities to cause a global problem? I personally wouldn't worry too much bout a religious based retaliation primarily because even the clerics protested the 'supreme' leader during the Iranian protest.

I would only be worried about the involvement of Russia and China. It would be interesting to see what their involvement (if any) would be.

I don't see China getting involved simply because that would be like biting the hand that feeds them.

And I don't see Russia getting involved because this isn't the Cold War anymore, and Russia has been somewhat as strong a voice as Britain and the United States when it came to Iran's possession of nuclear capability.

The two biggest allies besides Shia Islamic nations I see to Iran are North Korea, Venezuela.

In a conventional war...Iran could not hang with us. We would devastate the Iranian millitary. Alot of thier assets would be destroyed in the initial stealth bomber and cruise missile attacks.

Thier population isn't as anti-American as the citizens of Iraq were. This would cut down a lot on the resistance we would get on the ground from insurgents.

Do I want war..no but Iran cannot get Nukes. Our President now is a Jimmy Carter and will not do the job that he needs to do but the liberals won't be in the White House forever. Let's just hope that they don't get a viable nuke before a competent person takes back the White House.
