I am trying to launch a new e-commerce site and set up a twitter feed. I am blown away buy how many followers I am getting without doing much promotion except a post or two a day over the last few days.

I would estimate that 80% of the people following me have an interest in the niche based on their description and posts on their own feed.

The question is, in your experience, do these people buy? I have zero twitter experience, and can't believe how fast I am getting followers. If every follower purchases one item from my site I think I would have a heart attack!

That is what I was afraid of...if the momentum continues I am ok with that.

Do you normally follow everyone who follows you to make sure they don't un-follow or it really doesn't matter?

How many followers do you have?

(Also - this is like saying that you've made an affiliate website, how many leads will you get when you get 1000 visitors a day. Too many variables.)

Have you checked the timelines of these followers? Do they look automated? Bots?

Because it's pretty uncanny for you to gain twitter followers with just a couple of posts.

Have you added this account to your website? Does your website receive traffic?

I am pretty sure these are automated follows, especially if you've got a product/niche in your description or are frequently using product/niche related hashtags.

I use social oomph to qualify leads by inviting them to sign up for an email newsletter. If they sign up, give me their email address, and consistently open emails, then thumbs up. The problem is that you really do get very few qualified leads. I get about 1 in every 100 to sign up for the newsletter and probably 2 in 10 of those are at all engaged. Anyhow, the work is pretty minimal. So it might be something you consider doing.
