Do links lose their value the more of them you have?

Say I've got a site, 50k backlinks. Not spam, just a site that's been around for a long time and lots of people have linked it's content.

I now want to rank for purple widgets. I create content, blah blah blah, is the fact that my main domain has 50k backlinks gonna hurt my purple widget campaign's effectiveness?

Umm no duh.

And if it is linked from your main site the link juice will flow down to those pages and they are likely to rank more quickly.

Thanks for the reply.

It was probably a stupid question, I'm just having problems figuring out why certain sites outrank mega brands in certain niches. Backlinks aren't better, site isn't better..

Not all the tools (ahrefs and majestic) out there are capable of monitoring all the backlinks on the internet. Also, once you get to a certain position on-site factors are going to be an increased factor.

Also, speed is a factor. If your site is generally slower than your competition, search engines will favor faster websites if everything else is truly equal. But honestly, there are thousands of factors of why a site is outranking another site, so these hints are the tip of the iceberg.

Yep, you are right... To obtain rank they should follow below factors,

- Backlinks should be a permanent do-follow link

- Qualified unique articles which should be related to niche
