Or does it depend more on the merchant? How long does it take?

Sheesh...wish I'd known I had to wait! Should have probably applied before I bought a domain, built an LP/site, designed an adwords campaign.

So impatient to get started!

it totally depends on the advertiser. Honestly don't get your hopes up on getting approved..

Edit: I should note some advertisers approve you automatically though.

If you call them, you'll have a much higher chance of getting approved quicker. Well actually, I'm not sure that'll work for CJ, but I did that for a few other companies and I got in quick. Worth trying though.

Most of the merchants that don't have auto-approval will most likely decline your application first time around (and probably second and third).

If you are lucky enough to find some direct contact info for the AM handling the program, you can probably get in.

If it's a managed-by CJ program, it's going to be more difficult.

You're best bet is get all your sites working with Amazon (which almost has everything), add sites to your profile targetted to the categories you want to sign up for and then apply.

Oh crap they rejected me. Oh well, at least I got a response.

I'm going to try contacting the advertiser directly with details of the campaign I want to run.

Thanks for the advice guys :)

Other networks

There are several reasons why an advertiser might turn you down. Don't get discouraged. If you aren't a known name in the industry, they might not respond to your email. Find another advertiser or try another network. I hear Pepperjam is up and coming.
