Any bad ass designers with l33t xhtml/css skills looking for project work, part-time work, or even full-time work? I'm not sure why, but it seems of all "careers" on planet earth, it seems "designers" and front end folks are inherently packed with completely irresponsible unforgiving ass hats, devoid of any personal, business, communication, or organization skills. I won't name any names but holy bajeez...

Anyone else had this same shitty luck? I know that designers do the "freelance" thing more than most jobs, leaving lots without any business skills to basically run their own business into mother earth, but really... at some point irresponsibility crosses the line to just being a bad person.

Would love any recommendations and have at least 2 projects I could assign immediately for someone with a sickledy-dickeldy portfolio.

low barrier to entry for designers/front end coding means you get a lot of shitty people in the industry. Anyone with a copy of photoshop and a basic understanding of html can call themselves a front end designer, it's hard to sift through to find the good ones though.

This. There are a few good places that good designers can be found though. Just a theory, but I'm thinking good designers get that way after a lot of experience, which is only (usually) gained from servicing a lot of clients. One might extrapolate that if a designer services a lot of clients, it shows that there is enough trust in the designer for him to get referrals and repeat business. In addition, more client work provides an opportunity for honing one's business skills, whether intentionally or just as a side effect of time spent.

Here are some places to find great designers:
