I'm currently searching for my first dedicated server. I had narrowed it down to liquidweb, and theplanet, but after I heard the liquid web has much better service, I've decided on them.
My first question is whether you guys would go for a better processor (dual core, quad core, amd vs intel?) or would you just spend the extra money on extra RAM, and HD Speed. I'm thinking maybe a dual 73gb SCSI Raid setup.
I'm guessing the ram and HD speed would be a much better use of money, but I just don't have any experience with this.
I'm planning on running some larger vbulletin forums, and a bunch of modded WP blogs with heavy scripts running on them if that makes a difference.
One other question I had is at LiquidWeb, on bandwidth it will say for ex: 3200 GB (1600 in & 1600 out) where as theplanet will just say 3200GB. Is LW a worse deal because of that, or are they both the same, just with a little extra explanation by LW?
Thanks!
Josh
