Is Rackspace worth the $400 starting price?

I need 100% uptime and fast loading pages. Any suggestions? No aff links please, I already have my own =p

You can easily get it much less then $400 and prob better then Rackspace too... or equal to them. Take a look at the signature for some ideas.

I would suggest doing a search for rackspace on WebHostingTalk Forums - Web Hosting Discussion. You'll find some good reviews on them. The general consensus is that unless your website is mission critical (i.e. if it goes down, you will be losing thousands of dollars per minute) then you are much better off (price wise) with any other reputable dedicated server host with a good SLA. I would recommend looking into WebNX - Professional Hosting Solutions. They do a lot of custom server work at great prices. For example, I am paying $210/mo for a Dual Xeon 3.4GHz HT/2GB DDR2 RAM/2x73 SCSI HDs/CPanel which is an incredible deal. Talk to Chris and tell him that Chris w/ Course-Notes.Org sent you and you should get a great deal (I don't receive any commission- I'm just a happy customer)

Hope that helps,
-Chris

Rackspace is great if you don't mind paying a little more. I have 5 servers over there right now. I don't think we've had any downtime in years that was a result of anything attributed to Rackspace and their hardware. I also have 6 servers at NetNation, which is a little less expensive, great service as well.
