The title says it all. I love heroku, but I have a client that just doesn't want postgresql (maybe he got burnt somehow idk). I'm looking for a VPS or up with decent monthly that will run RoR apps with Ruby 1.9+ and Rails 3+. I'm noticing most of the managed VPS's (especially with cpanel) only allow old rails/ruby apps. This app is already built with the new versions of both so I need better options. thanks all!

and BTW, I'm looking for reviews here, not some guy with 5 spam posts here that wants to push his own hosting (biz)... Thanks again all.

Yeah, I looked into Linode but unmanaged just scares me. Kind of a chicken shit when it comes to managing a server. Capable, not confident with it..

you have to make the jump man, any managed Rails hosting is going to be pure and utter shit. It's not too hard to learn how to deploy to a Linode after setting it all up, and they have great docs. Spend a weekend on it and you'll be fine.
