Hey guys,

Noticed there was a thread from a while ago about CCarter building a dashboard app. I've now been working on something similar for personal use, basically this thing pulls in all your stats from all networks you use via an API and aggregates them into one place. Has pretty graphs too and all that.

I've now been considering polishing this and actually offering it to the public - however unlike CCarter I would make it more like a SaaS and charge a minimal monthly fee for usage.

Additionally, I'm planning to add support for other tools. What kind of stuff do people want to see? Seomoz/Semrush etc?

My question to you is, would you pay a reasonable fee (say $19/mo) to use this tool?

PS - I'm also looking for some beta testers, so hit me up and I will get you in!

Would rather run it self hosted for security reasons

Yes its not the kind of app you want as SaaS, in that case i would offer both options, hosted one time fee ($99) or SaaS

Hmm, I know people don't want to be storing sensitive information such as logins hence the reason I'd want to only integrate with platforms that offer APIs.

Make it self hosted would lead to this being distributed on warez sites and whatnot, and is a route I'd like to avoid.

Anyone who would pay, would pay. Updates and support would be enough reason for most to pay

Uhh.... since you're competing with me AND using my name, why wouldn't people just use anothering SAAS like Your real time business dashboard for KPIs and data -Geckoboard (Starting at $19 a month), or Ducksboard | Real time dashboard for all your metrics (Starting at $7.5 a month)?

They've been on the market for a lot longer than yours, and are proven products at the commercial level. The've got Google Analytics and a majority of the SEO integrations that you'll be re-creating the wheel on. SEOMoz uses GeckBoard, and so do several others.

Just fair warning, I don't think you want to go against me one on one in the market place, you might want to create a specialized version for different individual market.

Coming on this board and asking for pricing and features means you have no business model behind it or haven't thought of the long term goals of this.

"Thus we may know that there are five essentials for victory:
1. He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight.
2. He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces.
3. He will win whose army is animated by the same spirit throughout all its ranks.
4. He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared.
5. He will win who has military capacity and is not interfered with by the sovereign."
- Sun Tzu, The Art of War

I hope you are prepared for this battle...

^ why do you indent all your posts recently?

Geckoboard and Ducksboard offer a generic B2B solution. I'm more interested in tailoring my dashboard towards internet marketers. I'll be offering integrations with affiliate networks, which those two products lack.

Bring it on :zzwhip:

It's true that I haven't thought this through completely yet - I'm still looking for ideas and feedback and more than willing to pivot if necessary.

Damn this shit got cray. Honestly bro I checked out duckboard and the other solution but I still don't trust people with API's and shit. Honestly only people with dashboards like this actually produce numbers in their industry. I want something self hosted and yeah I would pay for updates and support. This is one thing I don't want in the cloud.

listen.. ccarter is one badd ass dude

and the only way to beat him is to sacrifice your own life with his :)

There have been lots of SaaS dashboards on the market for years, I'd be more worried about competing with the established companies rather than something someone is planning to launch one day.

It's not a party until my dude dchuk disapproves. :D

j/k

That's one of the reasons I think there was no planning, cause the market is full of Saas Dashboards. An SEO or internet marketing, specialized, MAY work. But as you can see from flaw3d and other previous comments in other posts, they aren't going to store profitable campaigns in the cloud. Plus, support for the servers, maintenance... But no need to help the competition too much :)

just saying, id never ever use one of these. ive seen too many saas's over the years sell out/sell leads not to mentino get hacked etc. only way id ever do this is self hosted and even then i dont have the time to watch my network for packets going back to the mothership.

No because it is API dependent. A lot of the trafficsources I use don't have a very extensive API, so I just use cURL to scrape dat shit.

I'm sure there's others who don't like coding who might pay. But as mentioned above, self-hosted is the only way most paranoid affs are going to use it.
