Content Writing V/S Link Building

Which one is a better marketing technique?
Which one is more reliable?
Which one is faster? (Faster as in, which technique shows improvement in your sites performance faster)

There is no doubt that a site's visibility is the most important thing today!
Let's think to answer the questions keeping the visibility in mind!

I'll go with Content, linking should be because of the conten and the quality information being shared. I believe if you get good content on your sites, other sites will look to link to you automatically!

Regards

Hi. We've been developing a site for the last year based on your theory. We've had three writers doing nothing but writing really good, usable, quality content. And what we've realized after a year is that it's gotten us nowhere and we've made 0 money on the site. No one is going to link to your site because it has good content if they can't find it, and they can't find it if you don't do linkbuilding. I'm not suggestion you focus 100% on linkbuilding and have crap content. My oppinion is that you have to do both and find a good balance.

I see plenty of crap sites with no content whatsoever and tons of spammy backlinks to them ranking for niche terms but very few good quality sites with few backlinks ranking for those same terms.

This exactly. Without links, your great conent may as well be offline. I don't put my business in other people's hands by hoping they'll give me backlinks. I love it when they do, and I develop content hoping that they'll link to it, but I do my own linkbuilding in the meantime.

Every single page that I've consciously did linkbuilding ranks well. I have other, equally original pages that are lost around page 10 or 12 on google for their term. The only difference is that I didn't do linkbuilding.
