content extract in wordpress

I was just browsing different blogs out of boredom and stumbled across this one: Net Business Blog
How would you get the content boxes near the header to work like that in wordpress? I like it. Please teach me :bowdown:

that would really depend on what posts you want to display, random posts, latest posts, specific posts................ either way its just a matter of calling the type of posts you want to display then styling them.

Yeah, just use the get_posts from some category, display 2 posts and then put them in the loop and show em.

Then everytime you post to wordpress have a category that you tick for good articles such as Head Article and then just call that category.

I think I really need to read up more on creating wordpress templates. I want to create my own instead of relying on the ones already out there.

no point in reading up on it dig right in, its the only way to learn.... Its not that difficult, I would say copy and modify a default template, but that wouldnt be any fun. Start from scratch and use the default as a reference.
