Hi

I'm not new to this forum but this is my first post. I've lurking around for a while and have been trying to soak up as much information as I can. Currently I'm trying to find a good product to promote.

My question has to do with the commercial intent of a keyword. Some people have referred me to Microsoft's OCI engine and it has proven to be a valuable tool but does it mean that people won't buy?

I currently have a bunch of keywords to promote a product that cheap enough for me to break even with a 1% conversion rate but Microsoft OCI says that they do not have commercial intent (usually with atleast 0,6 confidence). Should this be an automatic no go? Or is this just an indication that people are in information seeking mode?

Thanks for any answers in advance,

Jumpa

Just think about what kind of keywords you would type when you are seeking information and what type of keywords you would type when you are buying a product

Seeking information - xxxxx review, what is xxxxx, why xxxxx
Buying product - model#, brand name, where to buy xxxxx, location last minute deal, cheap xxxxx, discount xxxx

What he said. Also, those keywords won't be cheap in most cases and for a reason: they convert. Don't concentrate on cheap keywords - focus on quality.

Thanks for the advice guys, I’m definitely trying to find the profitable keywords over the cheap ones but I also have to try and at least break even right?
In other words: Is it wrong to assume that if the keyword won’t be profitable at a 1% conversion it’s a bad keyword for this particular product?
I am only just starting out so I really don’t assume I will get any higher than 1% conversion rates.

Profitable keyword can turn into shit with the wrong landing page.

All depends on your ad -> lp -> offer, they have to be "connected"

Too much to explain....

Read what cardine posted and the links in my sig, sit down, and think about the whole consumer mindset and process, hopefully it'll shred some light for you.
