Hi all,
Total noob here, hope I don't step on anyone's toes.
Anyway, I'm using a url shortening service (bit.ly) to cloak my aff link and track clicks. However, I'm not sure the cookie is set that way since I saw someplace this can cause some issues?
The question is, has anyone done that before and how can I tell that my affiliate cookie was planted?

Thanks!

The thing is there are several cookies and none of them are actually humanly readable - they're just a bunch of long strings that could be planted by the site itself.
I may be missing something here, I'll give it another look and see if I can figure it out for myself.

Thanks ;)

Just use another browser and clear the cookies out of it before you test your link like the other guys said.

So what I don't understand is why you are "cloaking" your links with bit.ly when clickbank now offers encrypted links.....or just use prosper202....

Mikey.

You should be fine if its just a tinyurl kind of cloak as long as its not iframed aswell.

Thanks everyone, I'll install P202 later this week.
Using a url shortener seemed like a fast and easy solution to start with...

bit.ly does have a good use for some things however. You can create different bit.ly URLS for the same landing page URL, etc, and then do tracking on them at the bit.ly site.

Let's say you want to twitter something and see if it's effective and also try a FB link. You can create two bit.ly links that are different to the same URL and then go to bit.ly's website and track the link clicks, etc.
