Cheap ways to split test?

Hi there, just wondering if anyone has any ideas for split-testing, while keeping it cheap? All I want to test is the percentage that will click on a button to open a form, there's no fields to be filled out. I'd split test the standard, natural way, but my lander doesn't get enough clicks to be statistically significant in a reasonable amount of time on a multivariate test.

My industry has pretty high CPCs ($5+) so that's a bit tricky, too. I'll go down that route if I have to, but for the moment, I'm considering cheaper alternatives.

Some ideas I've come up with:

  • Buying a few hundred thousand junk visitors from DP.
  • Throwing it on fivesecondtests or similar
  • Using a service like adf.ly

Has anyone used any of these techniques, or got any ideas for other ones?

Feedback much appreciated :)

Do you need to test the exact landing page as a whole or are you just testing the concept and/or the button itself? If the latter, just use any cheap traffic. PPV would probably be the quickest assuming you have an account somewhere...

Well, the landing page is currently this one, which just has a button (at the moment it's also got a zip code field, but that doesn't actually post anywhere - I'll test whether that helps or hinders in the future, but for the split testing I'll remove it) which then opens a new page with the main form.

I'll be testing that form in the future, which probably will need to be decent traffic, as there's forms to be filled out, but for the moment, this'll do.

I mainly want to split test between around 3 totally different landing pages, find a general winner from that, and then start multivariate testing on that one.

PPV is a really good idea for a combination of fairly cheap traffic & real people. For some reason I hadn't thought of that.

Thanks very much for that idea, +rep :)

why not do some media buy for a couple hundred bucks with sitescout or something like that if you have $5+ CPC and get your demographics really narrowed.

Do PPV Ron of Network Traffic. As cheap as you'll get. I also agree with SiteScout. Cheap, remnant traffic.

If you need help with actual split testing software, let me know.

adf.ly = garbage
$5 CPC = no way for affiliate marketer, no profit at all, even for big advertiser selling expensive things too
