Calling All Writers & Wannabe Sponsors! Presenting the Unofficial '09 WF Copy Contest
Greetings young Padawans,
I thought it might be a good idea since we've recently gotten an influx of approximately 942 new freelance content writers in the past few weeks to hold some kind of contest so we can see who the best of the best is. Obviously I'm not going to participate since I'm going to be running the contest (and would have won it hands down anyway) so let's get right down to the guidelines:
Pretty fucking simple, no?
If you don't understand any of these things then obviously just ask questions but please make sure any and all questions are actually legitimate questions and not fucking hey-look-at-me-babble-I-just-wanted-to-make-sure-that-we-could-do-our-content-in-English type bullshit. Get it? Got it? Let's hope so...
Basically, going forward, I'm going to need anyone who wants to be a judge/sponsor and would like to offer some kind of service/product or whatever as a prize in addition to mine. I'll reveal my prize in a bit later on but until then, let's hear from any potential sponsors and also how everyone feels about paying $10 to enter the contest in order to offer a cash prize in addition to everything else. I'll prolly take 5-10% of it as vigorish for being so jolly and kind to take time out of my crazily-busy schedule to do all of this, too, so there's that for you to chew on as well.
That's pretty much it, though. To the content writers who're rubbing their hands together thinking they got this shit on lock down, this is your shot. If you win this thing I would imagine it would do absolute wonders for your reputation in addition to giving you bragging rights over everyone else until the next contest. You can never put a price on being able to bust someone's balls mercilessly, in my opinion. Not to mention you'll get a cash prize and possibly other stuff should you win, so I would imagine this should be a popular contest.
I'll wait to discuss all the prizes/payouts until we get some more sponsors/judges on the panel (eg: which prizes should be offered for 2nd and 3rd place etc). Please reply back with your thoughts, questions or intent to get in on the contest as a sponsor or contestant.
Oh and PS: No, I don't want to expand this to include designers. Not that I have anything against you guys besides being my sworn, mortal adversaries, but I just think it would complicate things too much and adding a bunch of web designers to the mix would increase the drama exponentially. If this all goes well then we can do something with it or you can pick someone out of your own posse to run something.
That's pretty much it! Let's hear the feedback!
Greetings young Padawans,

Obviously I'm not going to participate since I'm going to be running the contest (and would have won it hands down anyway) so let's get right down to the guidelines:
- You must be at least 18 years of age to apply or have some kind of fake idea in order to get your prize at A.S.W. Well, at least my prize. Which leads us into the next bullet:
- If you're not a writer but want to sponsor some kind of service, feel free to offer something of review-copy type value as a prize. Just reply all of the necessary details in here.
- Just in case we don't get enough awesome prizes, I've decided to throw out the idea of charging $10ish dollars in order to enter the contest as a writer, ultimately putting said money into a pool of and giving the winner plus second or third place the split. This would also ensure that people who can't use proper grammar and spelling probably wouldn't risk the loot to enter.
- I know this was tried before (kind of), but from what I remember it was fairly complicated. Thus, the requirements to enter this contest are relatively simple:
Pretty fucking simple, no?
