.ca domains?

Internic.ca wants $50 per domain, that is way too much to pay. In fact that is the most expensive .ca registrar I've seen.

Try Netfirms - Web Hosting, Domain Names and E-commerce for Small Business, $9.95 per year with privacy included, lowest priced I've seen for .ca domains. I think the $9.95 is Canadian dollars too so that's about a 12% discount when converted to US dollars.

The problem with .ca domains is they require a Canadian address and registration with cira.ca, Canada's version of ICANN. Signing up is a more involved process than .com registration. You need to first sign up with the registrar then to cira.ca. Only after cira approves you do you get the domain.

Yea, they will make you prove your citizenship before they will let you use it the name servers etc...

CIRA sometimes call to make sure you are canadian... it happened to me last year. They locked all my domains, I almost had an heart attack.:D

Alright...

I am a Canadian (born and raised in Calgary, AB) and obviously live in Canada. I will handle all the registration of your domains and whatnot if you want...

Just PM me if you want to register .ca domains, the site you want to do it from, and I'll do it for you.

actually .circa domain registrar has the highest requirements among all the other registrars that I am aware of, to see all the requireemnts its better to visit their page or consult with technical support of the company that you choose register domain with

i register mine thru either webnames.ca (expensive unless you bitch to them about the "value add" they feel they have to justify $50 for a domain) or domainpeople.ca who are either $15.95/16.95. I'm in canada and haven't been asked for anything more then registering for the domain and having a CIRA account - no one has ever phoned to verify so i'd think so long as you provide a canadian address, you should be okay.
