I need to register around 5 domains, preferably at the cheapest price.
Once I have registered them how do I offer them to people, is there a website I should use?

Apologies for the super-noob question

Grab your domains at whatever registrar you use. I prefer namecheap and moniker.

There are tons of places you can sell them. Sitepoint, namepros, sedo, forums with a B/S/T section, etc. There are a few other good ones I'm sure I'm forgetting. Just Google "sell domains".

You said you wanted to register them at the cheapest price. If registering a .com for 50 cents less is going to make a huge difference in your ROI...yeah, you see where I'm going with this.

I'm no domainer, but keep in mind that you'll generally get a much higher price for a domain if you develop even a minimally functional site on it.

Thanks, do you reccomend a specific website to sell my domains. I heard of sedo.com and afternic.com which is the best?

SitePoint
DNForum
DomainState
NamePros
Afternic
eBay
Sedo
DigitalPoint

Auctions (TRAFFIC/Moniker/etc)

And then, there are other places (haven't used some of them at all):
V7N
GeekVillage
BizBuySell

Also, take a look at BizMP sources.

Whatever I am writing is highly subjective.

If it is 3-letters/high search volume/other premium -> Sedo & DNF.
If you are confident that the name will sell, list it at Sitepoint.
If it is an average/above average domain -> Afternic, Namepros, etc.

Cheap domains: eBay, DP, other 2nd tier places.

4 letter domains: Almost any decent forum. Even eBay.

AM related above average domains: try here!

In all cases, you can list your domains at Sedo & Afternic - it won't cost you anything.

If you want to sell urgently, try a firesale at DP, NP, etc, or try Afternic Bazaar.

If it is a premium domain, enter it into the auctions (e.g.: Moniker).

If the domain is highly valuable and brandable: Try to find corporate customers. Mail them directly. Send both emails & brochures.

If the domain is good, generic: Advertise via PPC - use your brain to find keywords.

If you get emails from domains like ironmountain.com, that means there is a big corporate customer behind them - so, play "nice-n-tough" but be flexible.
