Hello,

I am looking to possibly buying some adwords from google and adbrite in hopes of converting the clicks into affiliate sales. Im wondering if anyone knows if the link you use in the adwords campaign has to be a .com or can it be the affiliate link itself? Also, has anyone tried this and did you get a decent profit from it? I'll probibly start small with around $100.00 to test the waters.

Rumor has it that you won't be able to put those on your adwords ads anymore.. I don't use AdWords really, so I don't know for sure, but that's the word around the neighborhood.

ok, thanks for the input everyone.

so, lets say i have a website (ie: www.sideshit.com ) and it forwards to my affiliate link for the rich jerk, would that be against their TOS? or should i set up a "landing page" type deal, with adsense ads AND a big area showing the rich jerk info and a link to it? this way, if they dont go to the affiliate link for the rich jerk, they could still click the adsense ads?

Thanks for the help everyone. I've been dabbling in affiliate programs (adult and clickbank) for a while, but never got serious about it. I'm looking now, to turn my 12 hour workdays of designing and copywrite into 6-10 hours a day of promoting sites and affiliate programs so I dont have to do any "labor" so to speak.

All of your input helps and I take advice to heart, even if it is not positive feedback, as long as its constructive.

You have basically just described a landing page. And yes you can use them on Google AdWords but watch out for their recent changes to the landing page guidelines and quality score.

thank you Kieron,

I will be looking into this. Does anyone have any success stories reguarding this type of affiliate promotion? or do you think I should start a full on site promoting a certain product and have the "recommended products" or "buy now" links going to the affiliate sites?

I'm not clear about the url redirection stuff. I've used landing pages on my own url that then have affiliate links on them.

There is a friend of mine who as doing url redirection for a shopping affiliate program. Aparently it would take 4+ days to be approved because it was a TM, so he set up his own domain and just redirected it, ads were instantly approved. Well, it turns out it was against the TOS and he was banned from Adwords for a year.

Just send them an e-mail and ask, I've never done my affiliate ad buying this way so I've never asked.

However, I do use a third party click auditing that has a url redirect, but I put the display URL as where its directing too and have had no problems.

I've never heard of a delay in getting terms approved due to TM violations. But most of the big programs will not let you bid on keywords similar to their name on adsense or yahoo. Sounds like this guy went around that via using his own URL. It would be a TOS with the affliate program though that do not allow you to bid on TM keywords.

Maybe the redirect was the problem...

Damn, I just knew that you were allowed to use the affiliate link some months ago, and I was just gonna start with some adwords arbitrage this way. But seems like they don't allow it anymore listening to you guys. Do you know if microsoft adcenter allows it? If not, I will have to go for landing pages :/. Thanks for all nice info allready provided here :D

Wouldn't do it if I were you, start small

Yeah, tried this, broke even hardly, then uped the volume, sucked, it's not that simple unless you find the sweetest sales pitch page in the world and then somehow get some amazing keyword that is awesome with a low cpc, but good luck. You make some sales, but with any decent sem you'll pay more for your campaign then you'll ever make. Try a review site, or opt ins for email marketing.

Cheers,

Jason
