Hi guys, I have a friend of mine that just opened up a company. She would like a domain name that is already taken and the registration is private, so I cannot contact the owner directly.

Two questions: how can she try to buy the domain and how much should she offer.

The domain is a three-word domain, with two words being popular keywords for the niche. The third word has really nothing to do with it, just a name really. To give you an example, it is like in the mortgage niche the domain would be bluehomeloan.com, where blue is the name and home loan are the two popular keywords.

Right now the domain has a blog with some adsense in it but it is not finished. There are a few posts, some of which are duplicates, some sections are not completed, like the set up is not really finished. The post date is back in September 06.

I can do more research but it seems incoming links are lacking and pretty much is being not being really utilized.

When I used betterwhois.com to look up the owner, I got referred to Buy, Sell, Appraise and Auction Domain Names at Sedo, the #1 domain name aftermarket, broker, reseller, and appraiser! if I wanted to try to acquire it. Is that a viable option?

How do I go about it and how much in your opinion?

Well, if the registration is private, the person either is developing it or doesn't know what he/she is doing in terms of domain name resale. I suggest emailing the WHOISguard email address that should appear on the WHOIS results with a lowball offer.

Hello this is Logic, Hello rd3500. We are a domain piggy here in Palm Springs see Viper Logic Corp. - Domain Name Portfolio and we rarely sell these names however when we have sold a name it has been when the requester made a large offer directly to us and they get the name. We never respond to a requester when they ask us how much we want. If we do answer then we just explain what the website says iss that these names are not for sale. Just sharing how Viper Logic handles these things.
Good luck to you, Logic...
