Barter for new webmasters

It's more of an academic question at the moment, but has anyone used barter to start up a web business? It seems like a no-brainer, when you're starting a business you've got time and you usually have at least one useful skill, while you haven't learnt the full range of skills yet.

However it just seems that there is a big trust issue with this.

Totally agree. The problem with barter is that people seem to have a bigger trust issue with barter than they do with things that they pay money for. I'm not quite sure why that is.
