Out riding my motorcycle
... Because I obviously don't know shit.

Now this will probably be just one big ramble, but I need to write shit down to work out where the fuck I am going wrong, and on the odd occasion, right.

Started an adult related blog a while ago (those who know me will know it). Started by simply adding content with little to no link building. Got a decent trickle of traffic almost immediatley.

Then I started building out social profiles. I used this tool to do that on my wordpress blog: Social Networks Auto Poster {SNAP} - Free plugin for Wordpress

I now have social profiles on:
Twitter
Pintrest
Facebook
Plurk
Delicious
Friendfinder
tumblr
stumble

All was going swimmingly, except for the ability to actually generate any fucking income. So... After much research (HOLY FUCK! You wouldn't believe the number of adult platforms out there), I decided on giving juicyads and exoclick a go. This is after running campaigns on some very good affilate platforms - they don't need to be named, their shit is good, just doesn't work on my site.

So anyway... First cab of the rank was exoclick. Holy Fuck! Talk about putting free advertising on my site. The CPC was fucked beyond all comprehension. So I jumped ship and tried out juicy ads. It started out fine, I put on filler ads and a mobile redirect. The mobile redirect got me excited straight out of the gate. I was making a dollar+ a day (Hey! After nothing it seemed like gold), and it looked like the site was going to pay for part of itself by the end of the month. Then... BAM!!! BUTT FUCKED!!!

About four days after the adding of the mobile redirect, my traffic seemingly fell into a great fucking hole in the ground (see attached pic):

OcvrSkX.png

Now... I'm not 100% sure the redirect caused this, but it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to work out that it possibly/probably played a part in this dramatic drop off. Nothing else had changed on-site other than its addition. Needless to say, that little bit of code bit the fucking dust rather quickly, along with was actually making me a little money (yes... a little).

So here I am, seemingly at the beginning again. I'm currently giving plugrush a go, but with the drop in traffic, it is hard to truely evaluate it. It is not quite up to the mobile redirect of juicy ads (that fucking code) and is way above the shit exoclick offer.

Since the drop in traffic I have made some changes, mostly SEO related. I was going to do some link building, but that will have to wait until I work out what to fix when it comes to the current damage first.

Another thing I have learned, is that cheaply bought adult traffic is the absolute pits. The only thing it is good for is making the last weeks worth of stats don't look as horiffic as they should.

I guess this is just a vent/rant post, but I will keep you updated with what I do/don't do.

Some hot ladies if you managed to read all of that shit.

So, since this is in the newbie section, I may as well share all the different resources I have come across.

As far as monetization, I would suggest you give the normal suspects a run first and see how they work for you.

Abovealloffers - great support, and the reps will help you as much as anyone I've come across.

Maxbounty - Like AAO, great support and like them, they have numerous dating and adult offers.

Peerfly - Same as above, but as far as outright support, not as good and as MB and nowhere AAO.

Clickbank - they have dating, increase you penis, how to pick up guides. I have a couple of sales with them, need a few more to get a payout.

Next, we move into the more dedicated adult niche providers:

Crackrevenue - I joined these guys just before my traffic dropped off the charts, so it's hard to tell how they perform. Super helpful, and all my questions have been answered promptly. Have an awesome geo-ad rotator tool, so the ads you show will be country specific. They have some awesome offers in their inventory, such as; myfreecams, punishtube and fuckbook.

juicyads - Look, I'm not going to write them off, and I may give them aother go if my traffic recovers. If it wasn't their mobile redirect that caused my traffic issues, then they are well worth using. I will see. Huge inventory for publishers though.

exoclick - People say they make good money from these guys, I'm not so sure. Still, it may work for some sites better than others.

TBC... Have a motogp to watch. :)

The drop in traffic is because the mobile redirect - redirects the traffic from your site to the advertiser's site immediately. It appears the majority of your traffic was mobile to begin with. Remove all mobile redirects and you should be fine. I'm not a big fan of mobile redirects cause it will kill a brand when a user wants to see your site on their mobile phone or tablet (I really hope you aren't redirecting tablet traffic - if so facepalm.jpg).

Now if you have removed the redirect, look in the stats to the source of the past redirects and see if some links were pulled or what have you. Also, if you are going to use a redirect think about the user first. They see a photo, want to go to your site, and you are completely not allowing them to do so. There is absolutely no way around the redirect - how would you feel as your end user?

Also, you should think about capturing emails... Imagine if you had 1% of the total traffic's email so far. You can launch different areas of the site like a forum, a rating system, or even products like shirts, etc and get immediate traffic from past loyal visitors. Since it's adult, they may not want to 'share' things but may want to get private emails.

I removed it as soon as the massive dip happened. And yes, a large proportion of it was mobile. And no, the was no tablet redirect, unless the mobile redirect did it (I hope fucking not). So I am assuming that the biggest damage was to mobile users. I also get your point about endusers and their experience. I was simply looking for an additional way to monetize the site. You live, you learn.

Something to look into. I thought (perhaps incorrectly) that an adult audience would not be interested in leaving an email or joining a forum. But then again, recent research has indicated that there are numerous adult based forums around and that probably quite a few wouldn't mind the odd email with an interesting offer or discount. I'm still learning. I'm still playing. I'm still making the odd mistake and missing the odd opportunity.

Since I've opened this thread, I welcome the input, especially from you. I will try to implement different things in the near future as the traffic recovers. I will also keep adding resources. Might as well. Should be interesting.

I have mad respect for you, so I'll catch you another time.

Advertisers continued:

Now out of the rest of these I have only used plugrush. It is showing promise, but it caught me out with a setting that I missed (a simple yes or no radial switch) that turns mobile redirects on. Was wondering why the traffic was still low and not recovering, now I know why. A simple fix and the traffic has started to picj again almost immediately.

Plugrush - Easy to set up as long as you pay attention to the details. Also has a WP plugin which streamlines the whoe process. They have a version of this for other platforms as well. Earnings are actually building quite nicely and I've employed a popunder to make up for the now gone mobile redirects. Will report back at a later date about them, but they show promise.

These are more that I have found in my travels that cater to particular global regions. Haven't empolyed some of them, I may do at a later date since I have managed to pick up a growing audience in Europe.

These are mostly international Affiliate programs:

manicamoney.com

69cash.com

clickcash.com - I have finally been approved for this one. It took ages - literally weeks, so I'm not a huge fan of support so far. They do have something that interested me greatly though, hence the patience on my part. They have a WP plugin that allows webcams directly from your wordpress site. It is something I will be adding today or tomorrow to add more interactivity to the site. I will report back what comes about from this.

awempire.com

adamoads.com

ero-advertising.com

The next three are specifically for German/European/English Pron lovers -

vxcash.net

cashdorado.de

campartner.com

I will continue to add to this list as this thread grows.

So, now that I've added a few more advertisers, I will update with what I plan to do with the site in the next couple of days:

First cab off the rank will be the intergration of the webcams plugin. I am really interested in seeing how this works and if it is a viable source of steady income.

I already have an 18+ video page that features videos from Babes Money and juggcash, so this addition should be interesting. Remember, I'm only playing to see what works and what doesn't to a certain extent.

Next will be something that the fabulous Mr/Miss (I don't fucking know) Carter. That will be the addition of a simple forum. I've done some research and since there is no great urge to pour mountains of money into this, I looked for cheap or free options. After much research and reading reviews, which was interesting, I have decided I will go with a WP version for the simplicity of streamlining everything. To that end, I will be going with https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpress/ . It's open source and it seems have more than enough features that I am looking for.

Interesting times ahead and I'm finding the journey quite interesting, especially now, since the traffic is heading the right way again. Will keep this thread updated.

Advertisers continued... More!

For specific programs such as juggcash and babesmoney which are brazzers and babes.com respectively, there are others in their networks that cater to slightly different demographics. Here is a list of these ones as well. Generally, they are pretty easy to get approved for:

mofoscash.com

twistyscash.com

playboywebmasters.com

wickedbucks.com

digitalplaygroundcash.com

webcams.com - One of the first I tried out.

realitycash.com

moviewebmasters.com

One for the truely gaywebmaster - mennetworkcash.com

These promote particular niches or pornstars. Twisty's and Digital Playground will have your better known, highly searched for porn princesses. Mofo's and reality cash promote more real amteur or public sex scenes. Most of these sites have either HD player embedding options for videos and nearly all have their own large range of HD galleries for you to utilize.

This is completely off-topic, but having a site with any sort of adult content seems to attract those type of people that try to log-in/hack into your site. I would suggest using a WP pligin called Limit Login Attempts, and you can find it here: Limit Login Attempts devel.kostdoktorn.se

So far it has stopped four attempted logins/hacks by people that were not me. Good plugin.

Okay, been busy the last few days. Huge updates as far as content goes and thank to the prompting from another member here, cleaned up the drain on my sites load times through the double images that were showing. Seriously, wish I had of just done that before I'd gotten so far in. As far as page load times, I began using the Website speed test tool that Hobbster suggested, in conjunction with google page insights. Whan I first started looking at page load times with the first tool, my site was slower than 90% of all sites tested... LOL

Since cleaning the site up, it has improved substantially:

AEfo8q6.png

Since I took that screen capture, it has been improved even more. Loads nice and quick now.

So, been trying (and succeeding) in improving page load times. I've done a couple of other things. I changed the permalink, purely as an experiment, since my traffic is yet to recover fully from that silly mobile redirect penalty. I changed them from site/date/'post to simply site/post, in the hope that it improves indexing and I guess, making it easier for people to find particular post titles/keywords in search engines.

The reason for the former permalink structure was a post on here I think (I could be wrong) which suggested that following that particular structure improved page load times. The time has been reduced so much that I figured while the site was recovering, I may as well change it to see if it makes any difference. Will be interesting to see.

In the end though, page load times are down, so now I feel comfortable implementing CCarter's idea of a forum. That will be interesting as well.

So to add some more actual value to this thread (besides my rambling), I will some additional info for anyone that stumbles in here and is looking for adult resources. So here it goes - a more comprehensive list of resources.

Shit, won't fit in one post

Well that fucked my night and week. After starting to get the forum up, the net dropped out and now when I try to log into my site it simply redirects me to my blog page, not my WP admin panel. FML!

Okay, aborted the forum idea for the moment. The plugin I used (bbpress) caused me no end of grief. It's two in the morning here and I have been online with support for ages. Had to get them to disable the plugin because it stopped me from actually logging into the WP-Admin dashboard. Fixed now and I am still keen on the idea of trying to do the forum thing, but I will have to work out how to create a sub domain without actually having a cpanel to do it. New things to learn and another day.

Like a dog with a bone, I've continued with the whole forum idea and latest attempt has caused an absolute shit storm this time. I Can log into my admin panel but it's blank. lol.

FML. Maybe it's time to move on from this particular idea and follow another lead that has been presented to me (maybe - I hate not being able to get things right). The site seems to be recovering a bit (slowly) from its mobile redirect penalty, so that is a positive. Now all I have to do is get my admin panel back... lol.

I would imagine this is a funny read to some of you more experienced guys. I'm actually surprised I've ever made any money online after this week.

Haha... We all have those weeks mate. Keep at it. You're smart enough to make something work. It might not be this but if you plug away, I'm sure you find your thing.

Oh god.. bbpress, buddypress and the whole fucking shitstick can go rot in hell.

Oh god.. bbpress, buddypress and the whole fucking shitstick can go rot in hell.

I feel your feel bro. Funny thing is I eventually won but hadn't contemplated that I put myself in a position to lose. I'll explain:

Finally got a plugin to work and had part of the forum already set up before I went to bed. Win at last right? Nope! I spoke to a trusted friend who quickly gave my a written spanking over skype for installing such a stupid thing. The problem was what I hadn't thought about in my tunnel vision drive to get a forum up, was the security issues that such plug-ins create on a blog.

After being presented with completely different options, I deleted the plugin and went to bed. Today, I'm looking into those options.

This one site has probably taught me more in this last couple of weeks than anything I've done previously over the last eight years. It's interesting, fun and downright frustrating to discover what I do and don't know and what I have to keep learning.

Anyway, back to it. Traffic still seems like it's on the uptick again. Have work to do. :)

Started at the bottom, now we...

Here.

Spent some time rethinking my whole approach with this one. The forum (will come eventually), but I wanted to shift my focus. I also wanted to give myself some more flexability in the future. So here's what I've been up to.

Step 1: Improved resources - After a number of years online (with only the last four or so building sites), I've finally moved from a shared hosting option (wierd it hasn't happened before), and upgraded to a VPS with my current provider (webair - love em'). I need to scale, and I need more resources if the traffic of the last three days is anything to go by.

Step 2: Diversify - Whilst I am waiting for the sites I own to move over to my own VPS, the thought struck me "why not give my visitors somewhere else to go?" (besides a forum). The answer was in front of me, on this very forum. So I contacted a particular member and asked if I could use a particular name. In all honesty, if he hadn't given his blessing this next step would not be able to take place - I just wouldn't do it. I am greatful to him, so it will be up and running in the next week or so. It is an obvious extension of the original site, and will work nicely in tandem with it. It could also be the start of my own little network if I scale and continue to build.

Step 3: Narrow down what works - By this I mean what works with social media in regards to driving traffic to my current (and future site). So far, Twitter has been so-so, stumble the same along with delicious and a few others. What has consitently driven traffic to my site(s) has been Tumblr and pintrest... by a long way. I am going to add instagram to try out soon and have set the wheels in motion to see if Youtube can have the same sort of effect that pintrest and tumblr do. It wil be intersting to see.

Step 4: Some link building - I have hit a couple of trusted providers up on here and have started to add some backlinking to this project. Also, with a VPS I can set up (more easily) some 301 redirects. No, I'm not going to spam the shit out of the interwebs, but to add some link juice from other resources to these sites.

Anyway, That is what's happening. It's all interesting and new to me, but I am really enjoying the learning process. :food-smiley-010:http://uk.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/

Okay, been a while since I updated this... Still no forum, but that will be in the next few days.

One of the reasons I am updating is to highlight the importance of using a good hosting service. I am (more than) happily using webair for my hosting needs at the moment, and I am glad that I am. Yesterday, (I'm assuming) my main site was the victim of a brute force attack to gain access to it. Webair were on the ball and added an extra layer of security to all of my sites, not just the one hit.

I can't stress enough how important it is to have service like that. The brute force attack didn't work because my log-in details stretch my brain even though I've punched them a huge amount of times.

Common sense shit really, use a service that you trust and is on the ball, and make sure your log-in details are highly secure.

In other news, I am creating my own little (and I do mean little) adult blog network. It's growing. and I look forward to giving some more updates in the near future.
