Babylon Has Record Plunge as Google Deal Ends: Tel Aviv Mover

Babylon's share price is collapsing as Google ends its contract due to the large number of complaints from Chrome browser users.

Google slap for affiliates/arbitrageurs isn't a matter of If...it's a matter of WHEN.

Can someone explain how the contract/partnership worked?

Babylon has a toolbar and if users search through that toolbar Google will split the ad revenue with them? Or is it something else?

Also, why would user's complain? Too many other ads or what?

When users installed babylon toolbar their home page changed into a google/Babylon page, For each search action the user made on this page the two companies did a rev share deal.

Nowadays most of the traffic babylon generates it sends to Yahoo, not google, hence not a very big hit for Babylon.

i do alot of acquisition pricing due diligence for companies/individuals interested in buying an entity, and its shocking how often buyers want to ignore this "concentration risk".

honestly, what is babylon? not even heard of it before. From the article I see it's some sort of jewish toolbar company.

y u no tell me to short mGrunin?

Stay on top of industry changes and you would have known to short. ;)

There's several other companies like Babylon that aren't as diversified as IAC - and will either be hurt by losing Google as a monetization partner, or declining user acquisitions as they resort to lower-yield partners to continue aggressive installs.

I hate them to and because of them I have to read through the installation of most programs that I install on my PC so that I find the part where the program wants to install a shitty toolbar on my PC and uncheck that option :)

Good.. ?

I hate toolbars, all of them.

What the fuck are you installing that the majority comes with shitty toolbars? Sweet tangerine lady man, get your shit-software habit under control.

????

WTF? Everyone I know, even novice computer users, are always asking me how to install more toolbars.

Most prefer that they just show up out of nowhere.

Not a very big hit?

Sure, if you mean getting banned from AdSense isn't a big deal cuz there's always going to be AdBrite or Right Media to monetize your inventory...right?

Oh and Yahoo is about to be done with Babylon too:

Yeah I know a couple people's that browsers look similar to the image below... I am usually scratching my head wondering how the fuck they ever get anything done, with 3/4th of their browser being taken up by toolbars.
