Most of my ads are at around 1.5-2.6 frequency. When do you all normally pause an ad? After it passes a frequency of 5?

I think you're asking the wrong question, or I can't understand it.

What is your goal?

Facebook Ad's have a metric called frequency, which measures the average amount of time a user has seen your ad. So a frequency of 5 would mean that the average user saw your ad 5 times.

I'm trying to figure out what other marketers think about the frequency metric and at what point is an ad being viewed too frequently.

Well the old standard use to be it took a consumer 7 times seeing your message/brand before they connected with you.

However, your talking about a single ad ( pic and message ) that no one has clicked yet most likely.. Id pause at about 4 which is what I do.

if you're not selling your own brand then cap it at 2-3, affiliate marketing doesn't pay for "brand strengthening", only sales and actions.

solid advice right there, its still a ballpark though. Ive seen a case study where people have a habit of not clicking the ad the first or second time they see it.

What about the people you see on the spy tools hitting a single account with an ad sometimes hundreds to thousands of times? They must be crushing it if they are running an ad that long to the same demo. I know they are affs too because it shows their server URL if they aren't cloaking.

Or am I misunderstanding the frequency measurable?
