Are there any good trademark websites?

Wassup everybody, back from my adventures across the beautiful USA and need a little info. Are there any valid trademark websites that offer to protect your name and info online that are good? Also if nothing online is good, how to go about picking a lawyer to protect a name online. And what is a good price to pay? Been spotting different prices ($500, $800, $1000, $1500) and don't know what is fair. Looking for a good price but not cheap, willing to pay for quality service that will cover identity in the US and possibly globally.

United States Patent and Trademark Office Home Page file online yourself for a little more than $300 per category.

http://www.wipo.int/trademarks/en/ <<< World Intellectual Property Organization, for filing in multiple countries but I know much less about this system, which countries are covered, etc.

Otherwise hire a trademark lawyer, but that isn't cheap.
