Are Affiliate Links Dirty?

Meh these people are retarded and think everyone should live for free on the governments teets and contribute without any ambition. Also apparently they think hosting is free.

Agreed.

I don't see why so many people have an issue with it - the consumer pays the same whether he goes through the affiliate link or goes direct to Amazon.

Just another hype to a shit ass blog.

It's because if you read an article that says, "I tried this out and it's great. You should buy it!" you are hoping that the info isn't just made up bullshit or else what is the point of finding the info and reading it, right?

Anything could be made up bullshit, so the reader looks at what is in front of them, including (maybe) link URLs. For someone who doesn't know the difference between one URL and another it is irrelevent. But, if you do happen to identify an affiliate link (and thus potential profit motive) then it changes the status of the article in your mind completely. It's the difference between your next-door neighbor saying he likes his Camry and your Toyota salesman telling you the same thing.

Someone who genuinely likes a product and just wants to promote things they really like could say something like, "Now that you know what I think, click my referral link to get one for yourself!" They are admitting the affiliate connection so the reader is no longer skeptical/paranoid, they just have to decide if they believe the info or not.

(The reader is skeptical/paranoid to begin with because they fear finding inauthentic information that is tainted by profit motive. Marketers/writers know this so they attempt to make their material appear more "real". Readers know this and thus know to look out for it. LOL...)

well Affiliate liking is an nice but spamming and mass affiliates are not good. This really creates an dam irritation to many of the people.

call me crazy but I think a lot of it has to do with people not wanting to help others succeed even if it doesn't cost them anything.
