hypothetical question...

if you are new to PPC, wouldnt it be wiser to outsource PPC to a specialized firm than to blow money on newb mistakes?

would like to know affiliate's and merchant's point of views

without making those mistakes, you will never learn how to do PPC.

yes i understand, but in terms of PPC as a function of a business.

for instance, instead of trying to design hire a designer, instead of trying to learn code hire a programmer.

I don't think you can group PPC campaigns the same way you group designers, programmers, etc. A good PPC campaign can be the difference between a bizillion conversions and no conversions. It takes a certain skill to get those bizillion conversions, and once you get it you're going to want to hang on to it for yourself and hope nobody else figures it out.

As an affiliate marketer it is a bad call.

But if you are selling a product / own a business, then it's something probably worth looking into,.

Most companies that are any good would be running campaigns themselves and would be happy to work with you on a % basis per sale or something like that. Just my opinion. Maybe there's a good SEO or PPC company that works for fees but I've yet to hear of them or see them. Honestly if you were amazing at PPC you could make 4-5 figures a day why would you work for peanuts?

from my experience, ppc optimization software can be much more effective than a human. but it can also be effective at losing money if something goes wrong.

I get the impression that the core competency of SEM agencies is selling their own services and products, not anyone elses. I bet most of them have more sales people than account managers too.

I get several calls a week from these people at my job.

i use a ppc company for my non-internet company....its run by a buddy of mine that i used to work with in the same non-internet industry. its in an industry where there really isn't an easy way to run your own campaigns and profit from them via running affiliate offers as there aren't any in this area....its more like a referral kind of thing....

#1 - They will steal your campaigns
#2 - They often take up to 30% of your total spend in fees. Why would you want to lose this much profit?
#3 - You need to learn it yourself anyway.

This is by far the most true statement I have ever read on wickedfire

No Offense sir, But i havent ever seen that happening ... and the fees PPC company charge are anywhere near 10%-15% depending how strong their business clients list are
