anyone play heroes of newerth [HoN]?

Nope. Hands down worst gaming community ever. It's even worse than having your first 30 posts flamed at WF. Dota/Hon/LoL, they're all terrible. At least most of the players. Brazilians are the worst, even worse than the Europeans.

With that said, if I had to pick, I'd choose LoL. The team has actual people who made/were involved with dota in the first place on it. HoN is just cloning everything. Once they have to do something new, people are going to go apeshit.

LoL is more fun (for me), but the games are just a tad longer. It's kind of odd how even though there is no timer, almost all of my games have ended up within plus or minus a minute of 45 minutes.

For those of you wondering, part of the reason why players are such assholes to new people (and people who don't know how to play), is because the game is unnecessarily complex (especially dota/hon).

If you don't know what you are doing, you can cause your team to lose the game within the first 10minutes of the match, but the game isn't officially over for another 25-40 minutes, so you have to sit there knowing you lost because the new guy got confused/doesn't know any better and fucked your entire team.

The game is probably more complex than Street Fighter, with the amount of knowledge you need to have just to avoid getting your ass handed to you or surprised every other game. You have to play at least 50-60, upwards of 70 games before you get a really good grasp of whats going if you don't read the forums and look up item/team builds and hero matchups.

Yes I play LoL and it's quite fun they have a long way to go to get everything right but it shows much more promise than the crappy dota rip off HoN

i used to play high level dota back in the day. I took 3-4 month break and HoN came out. All the names were changed so i never picked it back up (considering the hardest part of learning dota was the memorization)

for those who made the transfer, how hard was it to re-learn everything?

From what i've heard the mechanics are slightly different and the game is leaning more towards aoe damage as opposed to single target damage.

But, HoN straight up imports classes from DOTA. So although the names are different, for the most part the "classes" stayed the same.

I don't think it'll take more than 15-20 games to get used to it.

I've lost so many games to people not calling MIAs and getting my ass handed to me by 4 people simultaneously it's not even funny. Regardless, I still play LoL once in a while. Add me: Roboturner
