I haven't updated to 3.0 yet, because I didn't want to lose my tethering option. Quickpwn seems to be lagging a bit in releasing their jailbreak.

Yes. And you add tethering after that as well straight from your iphone. You wont need pda net etc. Visit tysiphonehelp.com - it gives you all the instructions.

quickpwn is supposed to come out Friday, I've been anxiously awaiting it. I jailbroke my 3g back in January. If yours is already jailbroken, from what I've read it's best to "restore" to a 3.0 update. You should backup all your data as a "restore" will set you back to factory settings. It seems this should be done because people who don't restore are running into some issues when just updating and running redsn0w.

In the meantime, I'll be waiting for friday before I do any updating.

I'm running 3.0 on a 3G and have tethering...you just need to put on the modified ipcc file so that it allows tethering natively...no extra apps or anything...

Has anyone upgraded a 1st generation iphone to 3.0 and jailbroken it?

+ rep mike

just got my new 3g, going to take advantage of this for sure! Any recommended apps?

qckpwn is supposed to be out tomorrow, im going to wait for it, I haven't used redsn0w before - anyone else?

Yeah I used it on my wife's 3g and it works fine. I had some trouble with re-activating Intelliscreen with Cydia, but that could probably be because the app wasn't prepped for 3.0.

Jailbreak with redsnow worked fine but after installing miPatch through Cydia looks like I "bricked" my phone. Lame!
