I know we ran one late last year / early this year, but I wasn't able to attend. Wondering if anyone is up to the challenge?

Sure, make it something that could be done in say 4 hours or so. Can be based on the honor system in terms of time taken, but it has to be short enough to not become a massive distraction from people's actual work.

You gonna run it? Running these things is a pain in the behind

BTW... should we throw some money into a pot? Just a tiny amount, like 0.1 BTC or something, so $50?

Idea: anti-ISP blocking script. If say twitter or TPB is blocked for someone, they can go to myantiblockingscript.com and go to a whitelisted set of blocked sites that your script retreives and caches.

Idea: Write a bot that accumulates a txt file of ip addresses of bitcoin nodes in the network by asking nodes for the nodes they know about.

Bonus 1: expire ip address that you haven't heard about in 48 hours

Bonus 2: within that moving window, track how many nodes have mentioned each ip address to bubble up the node hubs

Also, I think making it into a 'contest' is too heavy. I'd rather just circlejerk. It's prob hard enough to find a prompt that we all actually want to do.

This is awesome.

I'll sit out if we're doing the bitcoin one, as that's a little unfair, since I'm already done. And not only for the version and addr messages, but for the rest of the them too. :) I'm probably going to sit out regardless, so doesn't matter anyway. Little too busy for my own good with client work right now.

Give people at least a week for this one, eh? Can't expect people who are brand new to the bitcoin protocol to have that banged out within half a day. There's a good amount of pissing around to get that working properly.
