Anyone experience with Google Base as a marketing tool?

A while ago I read on ShoeMoney's site a post about Google Base:

How does Google Base rank profiles?
With other words, I set up profile for example for 'free dating'. How can I get my profile first page for let see key words 'free dating' within Google Base? Google Base works like Search and therefore I have to do SEO in order to get ranked high within Google Base or this is NOT the case? Thanks!
