Surreal day today isn't? Looking outside my window I saw the channel 3 building on fire and now I'm watching Central World burn.

Just... madness. I don't want to get into a shit storm of politics here, but... damn... just damn.

For those that don't know what I'm talking about, search on twitter for Bangkok or red shirts.

So does this mean you are staying inside? Can you work with shit going on like that around you? Can you take photos from your apartment and post them?

Also - If I saw the news correctly... leaders of the red shirt movement surrendered today?

I missed getting caught in the middle of everything by about 30 minutes. Went out to lunch with my girlfriend at Esplanade and got called by some friends from my condo building saying that shit was about to hit the fan. We all drove out of Bangkok on Friday afternoon, right before my street (Th Rajaprarop) got taken over by protesters and the army started moving in.

I'm so fucking glad I didn't stay. My building got completely evacuated on Saturday after someone got shot while on their balcony. Turns out they lived two units down from me on the side facing the street. They went outside to have a cigarette and the snipers mistook it for a lit petrol bomb and just opened fire.

It's amazing how quickly it all took off. Two weeks ago I told my friend he was an idiot for canceling his trip over here and that it'd never be unsafe. Now Bangkok looks like a warzone. People on Twitter are saying that Siam Paragon is the next big fire target.

Yeah, Siam is on fire, paragon, i think might have some minor fires. Central world is absolutely destroyed. If you want images, I just uploaded a few on my facebook:

I'll accept any adds asap. Getting dark her now, and curfew starts in 45 minutes. Streets are empty as far as I see. There is a lightning storm coming, which will drown out the sounds of fighting tonight, which as far as I can tell, is the only reason they would instill a curfew. Keep innocents off the street and the terrorists on the street where they can be arrested... or... taken care of.

Thailand is not a democracy, and not even close to being ready for it. It's just the way things are done here.

Straight up warning, real life headshot. Fucked up and gross. Do not watch.

holy shit, anyone have any good linkees to photos?

"Terrorists" is pretty harsh no? Some would call them freedom fighters. I'm not an expert on what is going on there by any means but usually people fighting for democracy aren't referred to as terrorists by Westerners. The place is being run by a government that was installed as the result of a coup is it not? Wouldn't those people be considered terrorists?

Fatbat, there are both peaceful protesters and "terrorists" here. Imagine ppl burning Times Square, Fifth Avenue, oh and Goldman Sachs HQ.

Holy shit, things like this always make me realise how fragile life is

Life is fragile, just not worth anything in Bangkok. I watched a special about a volunteer group that helps with all the suicides, murders and traffic accidents because the gov can't keep up. Pretty f'd up.

Here are some really graphic images that sum up the day. Pics of death included, army soldier with mutilated arm and leg. You've been warned:

?????????????????? ?????????????? 19 ?.?.53 ? : ????????????

I wouldn't call them all terrorists, just the ones, you know, blowing shit up, destroying Central World (Which apparently is ready to collapse, note that it is the second largest shopping complex in SE asia and has a very tall office build on top. If that tips the wrong way it has a high chance of doing a lot of collateral damage), shooting back at the army, etc.

Wow. Man, I can't explain how much that fucking headshot upset me. How the FUCK do you live with yourself when you take life from someone like that? That is 100% fucked up. Ruined my day.

And we have fucking oil destroying our oceans right now . . . EVERYTHING IS FUCKED.

Bang-Cock.... Ooooooh yeah! lol

On a more serious note, I've been reading a lot about the protests in Bangkok for the past few days. Seems like there's some serious tension in that country!

another thing that sucks is thailand's world image is freefalling. thailand isn't a first world country, but it's not a barbaric free-for-all either.

a lot of businesses/corps are in wait-and-see mode, and some may consider pulling out of the country due to this http://hosted2.ap.org/txdam/1d938de...-Business/id-574ffb80342d4ae39d905ba024eb3e7b

i'm afraid this is going to have a huge impact on the country's economy.

i'm wondering if you'll see the yellow shirts stand up and be vocal at this point. i'm def no expert on thai politics, but I haven't seen much of a unified counter-group to stand up to the reds.
