Srsly, everybody wants some huge pretty site.

I think the hardest part is getting CJ affiliates. I might get 1 in 4 that I want if I'm lucky.

Yeah CJ can be a bitch when you're new there and have nothing to show for.

But once you start sending some traffic and sales to your first merchants, your "rep" grows and more merchants will approve you.

It also helps to have a few sites / blogs on general niches on your profile. Just set up some quick WP blogs around popular items. A decent theme and a couple of posts is sometimes what it takes to get approved.

And lastly - don't forget trying to contact the merchants directly through their given email address. I have been declined initially by some, who after I sent them a short email, got approved right away. All I did was explain how I'm building a new site around this or that product and that I was confident that I could bring them some sales.

Persistence is key. :)

merchants at CJ are dumber than dirt for the most part- I have several accounts (companies) that are 5 bar publisher accounts yet when trying to get a few big merchants (WHO I ALREADY WORK WITH) to approve the account for the latest venture (0 bars) they won't respond to me).

CJ, yeah that could be tough. I've never had a problem with the more CPA-based networks like neverblue and azoogle though.

I've been driving fairly substantial traffic to a few merchants over the last year and I still get declined by some of the publishers... it's a weird process over at CJ I swear.
