I've been meaning to ask this for a while now, but have been slammed lately with other shit on my plate.

With all you ballers on WF, I was wondering if any of you invest in startups or projects (i.e. web or mobile) other than your own. If you do, are you able to share what you're currently invested in? Obviously I'm only asking for examples of projects that are more established, as nobody would be giving away their ideas before their products have actually launched.

I've met with quite a few potentials that have pitched me, but nothing has really grabbed me by the balls as of yet. Due to the NDAs I've had to sign, I am not able to disclose any details about these projects. Some pitches have been actually really well done, however I've had some that are absolutely god awful (i.e. handwritten scribble on a napkin type of business plan etc).

Anyways, just curious if any of you are into this and would love to get a good discussion going here...

dont judge by the pitch, napkin deals are the best.

judge by, can this be bought by another company later

also, fuck business plans. make people fill out a lean canvas.

Don't invest but work in a house full of startups (Notman house) in Montreal.

There's an interesting mentorship starting here called Founderfuel. We actually had 3 start ups from Vancouver (know you're from there also).

Anything specific you'd like to find out? I can ask around

Hey bro, ya I remember you mentioning this to me before. That's a pretty cool concept, I wish we had shit like that here. Vancouver is starting to get a little more into the startup scene as well, I was at Startup Weekend Vancouver a few weeks ago and it was pretty cool.

We also have Growlab here which is similar to Founderfuel. They're pretty much all poaching off the Y-combinator model me thinks...

Nothing specific I wondering in terms of startup questions, I'm more curious whether any affiliates here have shifted towards this type of business. This definitely turns my crank more than AM, although you still need to do AM to pay the bills.

But ya we should definitely touch base again and see whether we can get anything going again :)
