I gave a couple internet related gifts this year.

My son was (is) still with Blogger, I got him his own domain, paid up for two years and started transfering over his blog to WordPress for his Christmas gift. (with the changes, blogger wouldn't import to WP-had to give up and am copying post by post :( ) He was really happy and had wanted to graduate to WordPress soon anyways.

For Bob's dad (my ex), who wants to start with internet ventures, a couple of us went together and got him his own website w/optimization, content, paid links, adsense, etc. (Rob set up the site, I wrote, my older daughter will submit to directories, the youngest girl was in charge of wraping the pages that had the info on it, and my youngest son put in some cash for paid links and to expand the site). The surprise got ruined because he received a personal phone call "congratulations on your new domain". He didn't have a clue what they were talking about but figured our son had something to do with it. He was also was very happy with his gift.

Even if I have more funds available next year, I'd like to repeat the website gift, only I'd like it to be up 6 moths or more and making some income by gift giving time. It would be the gift that keeps on giving (if it's making $$$ :))

Nice idea Jan, I hope it all goes well! Hmm so how do you wrap one of those up, I guess you could set the page up on the monitor and wrap the monitor up. Once they unwrap it they have the suprise its your website ....

It's like giving a lotto ticket as a gift you might win or you might have to try another time....

I like your website gift presentation idea!

If done right, better odds with the website than the lottery :). I'll have to update how it turns out for him. If nothing else, he's happy because he now has that first website of his own!

We printed out pages w/info and the site pages and put them in different boxes from each person. Even though he knew what it was, he liked the idea of having a several boxes w/the different info. It would've been better if it remained a surprise, though.
