Any advice on how to try to get this domain?

Domaining noob here, any tips on how I could go about trying to get my hands on a domain with the following details:

Registrar: MONIKER ONLINE SERVICES, INC.
Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD [expired, past registrar grace period]
Dates: Created 17-may-2006 Updated 27-jun-2008 Expires 17-may-2008

Look it up at moniker first (backorder option). If they haven't dropped it, they may be trying to resell it at a higher price. If other people have already backordered it, it will become an auction.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I created an account at moniker and the backorder option took me to snapnames which had a price of around $50 on it, so I gave them my credit card and bid on it, and now it says it is a pending order...... Cool, hope I get it.

I had a quick Google around trying to figure out when it will become available for registration. Seems to be about 2 months, is that right? So it should be able to be registered around 17 July?

Usually it's 2-3 months, domain registrars love abusing the "redemption" to make extra money. AKA eNom jumping your re-reg fee to 160ish a week after expiration.
