Hello Ladies and Gentlemen. In case you're wondering, I'm a newbie and the difference with me, is that I'm here to stay. I'm sure that's not the first time you're hearing it. Anyhow, I kept my head down for about a month, reading and observing. There isn't a single article in Treasure Trove that I haven't read, so consider me an advanced rookie. I have launched a few campaigns and have some troubles with one of them.

Here's my problem. I'm trying to promote this arcade game offer. You register with your credit card for 1 month trial and download a free game. Most of you probably figured out what the offer is, but I don't care... I've been blessed with a good affiliate manager who supplied me with deep links on some games. I'm doing direct linking from google and bidding on game specific keywords. My CTRs are in double digits, but I can't get that bitch to convert. This offer should convert 8 - 12% I have done 120 clicks with 0 conversions. I Tried all kind of ads, tweaked, and changed it and still no results. I was hoping you could share some of your expertise with me.

Here's one of my most recent ads:

"Game Name" Download
Join "Name Of the Offer" Trial &
Download "Game Name" Now. Join Today
www.Website.com/Register

Assuming "Game Name" is the keyword, what changes do you recommend I implement to improve the conversions? Hmmmm.... get a single conversion? :)

I would be willing to try any decent ideas you have and will report the success of failures of these ideas here.

My Affiliate manager tells me 8 - 12% conversion is the range he had seen for identical offers. I don't have any reasons to doubt him

if you are using direct linking, then try landing page.
if you are using landing page, then try direct linking.
if you are using landing page, and can't use direct linking, then try optimizing your landing page.

also,

test different ad copies
weed out non-converting keywords
add more keywords

Ok, you don't need to know conversion range for identical offers, you need to know it for that offer in particular. Each offer converts differently and the swing in conversion rates can be dramatic.

Also make sure he is pulling those numbers from only publishers who are running it the same way you are trying, search only in this case. While the numbers you get won't be anywhere near 100% accurate they will be much better than what he was giving you before and at least you can have some estimate if that's what you are looking for.

look at your competitions landing pages and model one after theres. Chances are the offer is probably not very good to begin with. Game type offers that require credit cards doesnt seem like a good thing to promote seeing how a majority of gamers are probably under 18 and dont have a credit card. and the ones old to have one probably wouldn't pay to buy a game when they can get it free off piracy sites.

So after all that your aiming at a very low % of people who actually have credit cards and let alone are willing to pay for your game.

id try something else.

Thanks for your advice.

8 - 12% conversion is from direct linking on this exact campaign, but not necessary google. I'm suspecting it's Facebook traffic.

I have tried about 15 different ad copies over last 4 days. Still doesn't convert. I musst be doing something wrong with ad copy.

Most of the competitors do direct linking as well. But maybe you're right and landing page is a way to go... Can you recommend anybody who does your landing pages if you outsource them?

Any advice on ad copy?

Ron Mexico, what kind of offer did you have in mind?

You CANNOT just bid on game specific keywords, your keywords must be action keywords also. As in "rent", "buy", "purchase".

PM me with more specifics, and I'll be glad to help.

what's your target market? if you're selling to high school and college kids, that ad wont get clicks.

Here's your freebee

Can you score?

You couldn't beat me if you tried.

Aren't you getting good CTR on your ads? Why do you concentrate on them? You're obviously missing the boat on the landing or keywords used.

Also, if you want to get clicks from traffic willing to buy, use those words on the ad also. Get the price on the headline and your CTR will tank... :)
