Recently there was a show about mermaids being real on Animal Planet. It has to be one of the best marketing campaigns I've ever seen by a TV channel. If you have a chance to watch the actual show it's worth watching.

The video above is linked, because it shows some sites they've listed in the documentary. They've apparently faked a DHS and DOJ seizer. Now lots of people on the Internet are debating if it's true or not. There's no proof it's faked, but I have a strong feeling this is a viral marketing campaign to get people to watch their channel that normally wouldn't.

I have a paranormal site that has several articles/videos about mermaids and recently saw an absolutely HUGE spike in traffic to these pages. I really had no clue why this was happening but the topic of this thread immediately caught my eye and now I know.

I really have no idea how to monetize mermaid traffic (lol?) but I just threw some adsense up on these pages and will see what happens. The only other thing I can think of is maybe a "Are mermaids real? Answer now and win a free prize" yes/no poll and then send them to offers no matter what they choose.
