So I've dipped my toes in the AM waters a couple of times - even made a couple hundred bucks (so as you can see I'm a total expert here). But I know everyone is always looking for a fresh idea....

So I have one - and it might work for affiliate marketers and benefit me. See, I do a lot of radio and tv commercial voice over and production work - and it seems like AMs aren't really exploiting the fact that advertising in streaming and terrestrial radio is cheap and easy to do.

Now, with a service like TargetSpot: Internet Radio Advertising, Online Audio Ads or Radio & Cable TV Advertising Marketplace - Buy & Sell Unsold Airtime - you can laser target demographics. And with the right spot, and the right call to action, you can probably drive that traffic to your landing pages.

The problem of course, is that it's a little more difficult to track - but if you setup campaigns that were specifically tailored to the streaming radio audience and not advertised anywhere else - you could at least see if it works. And you all know a lot more about this than me - so maybe there is an elegant way to track this.

I dunno, just an idea. And I do voiceovers and production work - so if you want to bounce some ideas around lemme know.

dont try a rebill offer on a radio show with live phone for listeners cause people will call in and say scam

happened to me before

No no... I'm not talking about doing anything live. I'm talking about carefully written and targeted ads directed at streaming radio. Usually the person listening is already at the computer - so a good call to action is all thats needed to pull them in to your LP.

feel free to hit me up as well :)

i have a streaming media site thingy as well that gets probably 500k unique listeners a day. i've wanted to set something up like this where people could purchase "commercials", geo target and etc..

I was listening to a 1.fm station on the way home from work today (I hook up my phone to my car's system) & heard some ads - one for a wrinkle cream & one for weight loss.

I'd suggest to have a phone number on your offer if possible, but it's not a huge deal if you don't. Just make sure you repeat the domain or phone number a number of times in the ad - listeners won't forget it.

Radio ads convert terrible as no one remembers urls or phone numbers while driving. The only way the ads work is for local businesses and major chains as they are remembering the name and not a specific url/phone number.

^ Yah, they're talking about internet radio, though.

I don't really know, but I assume that it is the more internet savvy users who are aware of sites like shoutcast.com or live365.com. MSN radio doesn't exist anymore, but I believe that aol and yahoo still have some type of radio.

not 100% truth. We have campaigns that have been profitable day one that have run for 8 months now. Just like anything else, right audience/target, right ad (which you figure out by testing).

Have you heard that AM "rap" on webmaster radio? I have been listening like 2 or 3 hours a day to Webmaster radio and I am too ashamed that I can't get that song out of my head.....ugghhhhhh!

Streaming radio users are MUCH more internet-savvy, MUCH more engaged with the content, and much more likely to respond to a call to action, because the vast majority are already right there at their computers.

THe great thing about a service like Targetspot is that you can place buys for about a $7.50cpm - and reach ALL of the major streaming services. You can even target locally if you want to.

Terrestrial radio doesn't work unless you make SERIOUSLY large buys, because the format just isn't built to convert.
