Hi Gents,

Some of my customers are having issues paying with paypal, when sending them a invoice. E.g. they seem to be getting 'card cannot be used for this payment'

Can anyone recommend any other payment platforms which can issue invoices via email and the person can pay using their credit card.

It seems to be a common problem with paypal, which is fu*kin anoying.

Kind Regards.

PayPal has a rule for few countries where you are not allowed to send or receive money from people in the same country. If not, then your clients probably haven't linked their credit cards to their PP account.

Ok, so for everyone else including you, "card cannot be used for this payment" means that the card # and card they are using has never been in the Paypal system before, or it has been flagged for one reason or another.

I got this same error when I tried to use a card that hadn't been attached to my account yet. I had to go through a verification process with paypal, where they made a $1 charge on my account and I had to go into my statement and find a 4 or 5 digit code to give them to verify. This shouldn't effect guest checkout through paypal, unless they already have an account with paypal of the same name on the card there trying to use with guest checkout, in this case I believe the only thing you can do is have them add the card to their PayPal and verify it. (worked for me anyway)

Other options for invoicing... I would go with Freshbooks. You could alternatively make your own invoices directly on your site. This is how I do it. I use Cart66 and gravity forms on Wordpress and just throw together a quick product/subscription and drop it on a page in WP with noindex/nofollow attributes and send a link to the client. This way the invoice looks like my website and forces them to sign up for an account and asks them to give email consent for future emails when checking out something a traditional paypal invoice does not...

i think your customers are from India as the error 'card cannot be used for this payment' occurs mostly from there and you can easily solve this by using worldpay.com as a alternative, as i've tried it myself and have used the same credit card that paypal was not accepting.

edit:So if you want an alternative that can invoices via email and the person can pay using their credit card then you must use 2CO.

you can read more here https://www.2checkout.com/blog/tag/invoice

Have you tried freshbooks? Free version can be used for limited number of customers though.

Are your customers Nigerian? I've never had a PayPal issue with credit cards unless they were from some banana republic.

You can use Freshbooks, but they'll tie in to PayPal as well..
