I saw this video the other day and it reminded me of a church incident I hadn't thought of since I was a kid. My parents aren't religious, but they did send us to church from time to time (maybe it was the free babysitting, maybe it was the family pressure, maybe they just wanted us to have a fair shot at "being normal", who knows).
Anyway, there was a song they always sang at church called "I've Been Redeemed", and it had a ton of verses like:
Oh you can't get to heaven (echo this)
On roller skates (echo this)

Oh you can't get to heaven on roller skates, you'll roll right past those pearly gates,

One of the verses was about mini skirts and how "god don't like no little flirt"...but the verse that always puzzled me was the one that said, "Oh you can't get to heaven - with hands like this (insert limp wrist gesture here) - cause god don't like those boys who kiss."
Total lightbulb moment, 20 years later - I had no idea they were trying to teach me to hate gay people.
