Quick questions regarding ahrefs...

1. is there a lag time in how long it takes ahrefs to 'see' a backlink? 24/48 hours?
2. (referring to picture) what exactly are the "rankings" on the left side of the graph?
3. after making a post on a very active blog (just one post), it created multiple backlinks according to ahrefs...is this normal?

1) Could be any time lag. Depends how fast it is crawled. Links on more popular pages are likely to be found much faster. Some would take only a few hours while others may take months I imagine.
2) Not sure what you mean here.
3) Yes, sometimes it can be indexed under several different pages (the actual page, a comment page etc).
