You are officially allowed to add your affiliate program links into your sigs. You can also have banners, flash images/banners, just no audio allowed. This is in the rules and regulations..

If a newbie or regular webmaster is requesting a program or topic, you are ALLOWED to post your affiliate link in the post. Yes, that's right all you SPF and DP users, you're allowed to self promote your affiliate links ONLY when requested.

Update: NO contextual ads in your sigs or in any posts allowed. That means no Adsense, YPN, Chitika or anything else.

Oh Man I predict total chaos!
not that I'm innocent (ahem sig) but affiliate banners and flash in sig, lol.
On the long term this will create very colorful forum pages :p

Total chaos I think we will have... I really think it will work well though.

I would be smart to add some size restrictions Jon, or just plain text base promotion, which is fair enough i'd say. Anyway I like you generousity ;)

we're all reasonable people here. No one is going to make one that takes up the whole screen.

Maybe now.. but if/when this site becomes big... it could be a spammers dream.

I really hope that this forum can stay open. There will be spammers, hopefully it won't be a full time job moderating them. I can see that really ruining it.

I hope it can stay open also... has a great idea behind it.

No one seems to be using colorful banners, as prophesied. It seems like everone just wants the links, since I doubt the traffic here will actually convert. Is adsense allowed?

No Adsense or YPN or contextual advertising for that matter. The point is to allow you to get other webmasters in your 2nd Tier in affiliate networks by providing them with links to things that would ultimately help them. You can use links to products, may it be software or hosting, I don't care, but anything that pays you per click, don't even think about it.

Err...isn't that even more restrictive than dp, which allows a splitting of profit on adsense?

I know dp allows you to have referals links in your sig and also drop them in your posts aslong as its reletive. Nice anyway maybe the banners would get annoying on loading speeds though.

yeah, that is fine I think he was saying like dropping google or cpm ads in the sig. which would be stupid
